MailTab for Gmail - Email Client App Reviews

Went from 5 stars to zero real quick

This is the last time I will download anything from this company. I *paid for the ad-free version*, but in the latest update, I was tricked into submitting my email address for some mailing list. The logo at the top of the page was for Mailtab, so when there was an email entry box I naturally assumed it was to re-enter my email address for the app. Not so! I dont know what sort of spam they plan to send me but I wont give them another dime. When I pay more for an ad-free version, I expect to get what I pay for.

Useless chaotic UI is nearly featureless ;(

Ok, to be honest, I do like this ‘concept’ , and removing certain classes of basically ‘junk’ so-called social email is not going to my inbox (regular everyday email inbox, that is…) However, this app has very little user-friendly interactions. In particular, there is apparently no way to mark all, or select groups of emails to process, move, delete, etc… I need to be able to come on, do a quick perusal, and then purge them or whatever…at this point I dont even hardly check it, because it frustrates everytime when I can’t dump them…I will be uninstalling it, if I can figure how to do so… any suggestion for thorough uninstall? Where are these emails being stored?

4 star for billing me twice.

Don’t upgrade the app from the free version. If you want to buy the app, delete the free version and buy the pro version. I was billed twice when i tried to download the pro version directly. I first bought from an inapp purchase (from the free app). Then later i had to delete the app and reinstall it. When i downloaded from pro version directly, I was billed again. This could be a bug from apple. (I might be wrong) Over all this app is good.

Good basic app

Just needed an app to do exactly what this one does. So I´m pleased!!! And it’s free… Thanks!!!

helpful

Its VERY HELPFUL. it lets me know when i get new mail and/or important things that happen. I like it very much, and I will keep on useing this useful app for a long time.

Simple yet very useful

I mean it simply does what it is supposed to do, if you have an email it lets you know, and you can view it right from the tab, you can also check manually with hitting the refresh button, or just set it up for when it checks on its own and lets you know, I think it is very useful and absolutely helpful

Used to be good….

Used to be very good, providing a quick way to check email. Now unstable and keeps crashing. I’m done with it.

Non-standard UI and just plain annoying

If you’re gonna make an app like this which is persistent, it should behave according to Apple’s recommended HCI guidelines. This thing does not. For example, you can’t drag it off the menu bar to persist as a window on the desktop and as a menu-bar window, it supersedes all other apps open and active (a big pain in the a). The makers needed to go look at the product design of those who are more experienced at this: go look at Adobe and how they handle their little persistent in the menu bar app. Revamp accordingly. Lastly, critical top level functions like a f*ng CLOSE box are way too subtle and are in the last area of the window where users expect such controls to be. This thing was just not designed by pros - functionality is fine but as most of us know by now, functionality is made and broken by amateur, subjective, and unprofessional UI decisions.

Exactly what I need!

Lightweight, and notifications come up as expected. Very little need to open up a resource hogging gmail window or the Mail program. Thanks!

Glad it’s free

I love how this enables me to manage my email quickly and easily from the toolbar, exactly what I was looking for. I would give it 5 stars if the popover didn’t show up in the wrong place (left side of the screen instead of underneath the icon in the toolbar), it’s quite annoying!

Panel App

I wouldn’t even think this would be handy on a mobile phone. It’s very basic and not intuitive at all. But, I guess that’s the free part. What disappointed me more was the add-on’s didn’t even make sense for me. Since I only use Gmail, it make sense to use the browser or the email client included in the mac os.

It’s OK until you want to print.

It’s good for reading, writing, sorting, etc but when you need to print you either install Chrome or go to the web and print from there. You should come up with a way to easily print without having to install another browser.

Good, but no options to edit fonts

I really, really like the idea of this app. It’s worked perfectly for me until I was trying to write the title of a book in the email and realized you can’t italicize or bold any fonts.

attach a file?

Can’t find the way to attach a file to the email. Is it obsolete to ask a mailing app this?

works ok no folders

works ok, lacks folder access

It does what is supposed too..

Its a little intrusive with the ads and asking for feedback at start up. Just my 2 cents

Causes Chrome GMail to logout every 60 seconds

Immediately after installing MailTab, the GMail tabs that I had open in Chrome began to sign out every 60 seconds. Google searching the problem, this is apparently a known issue with MailTab, and other FIPLAB products that result from the way that they do their advertisements.

Only One Account Option

App only allows you to add one account. Worthless if you need access to multiple email accounts..

perfect

i gave this app 5 stars because it deserves it, this saves me so much time i dont know what i’d do without it….keep up the great work…well worth the investment.. jim
