MailTab for Gmail - Email Client App Reviews

139 Customer Reviews:

I really like how handy this app is. I just hate how inconvenient switching mailboxes is (since I have more than one e-mail address come to this app). I turned off the promotional and social tabs in my gmail, because I hated having to switch back and forth, and that helped, but its still annoying to switch to other addresses. I wish that option were available on the main pull down page.

“Rate Me” Pop-up

Since you interupted my flow to ask me to rate your product … here you go. I actually never use it, but thanks for the reminder to uninstall.

The viewing area is limited to one size! For some users it might well be too small others may like it - why no options for its size? In 2015 customers of Apps expect ‘everything’ and being limited in size (presentation) of the product is no acceptable.

Love the abiilty to open gmail right from the top menu without needing to open a web page. When you switch to another app, the mail window disappears, but immediately goes back to the same spot when you click it again. Very well developed app. I would echo the request to be able to view mail from multiple accounts in one window. That was a feature i really liked from Apple Mail, and would like to see it here.

The app is okay. It’s nice that it is right in the toolbar to read incoming emails, but I think it is really stupid that you cannot view or attach anything in the emails without paying. Whenever I get an email with an attachment or need to send one, I need to go to my browser to do so. It’s a waste of time. Don’t expect anything extravegent when you download it. It’s very basic and kind of is what it is.

Ive only just installed the app, but the few times Ive used it so far, its worked well. I do have to type in my password every time, where as when I go into gmail thru the internet, it is remembered. I did try to set up a gmail mailbox in my mail, but google blocked it and said I needed an app. I didnt know to what app they were referring, so I went with this one. I was hoping since I now have an app, I could set up a gmail mailbox, but no. So after I check one mailbox, I exit out and click on the icon in the menu bar. It works well, I just wanted all my mail in one area.

No complaints so far simple clean it works, that is until you want desktop mode to add attachments. Totally glitchy. does not work for multiple accounts just the first one you input. also no off toolbar mode.

Clumsy, crashes continously, will try to spam you to death… You can find everything that’s wrong with an app in MailTab for Gmail. I admire their PR team that managed to fill the App Store with such magnificent false reviews.

Needs improvement

When logged in to few accounts would be cool to choose which ones I want to be notifed from or maybe from all when emails come in

this app is handy, i know there were a couple tool bar gmail apps in the store and this one seemed to be the best when i first downloaded it but since this last update, if i am not randomly getting some sort of javascript pop up error, the app is taking focus away from where i am typing and you have to click the box to continue typing. this is very annoying if you have to type an email longer than a couple words. fixing that would return my rating to 5 star status

Crashes on startup

This used to work perfectly. With the latest update it crashes immediately on startup on 10.9. Tried uninstall/reinstall with no luck.

I really do like the purpose of this program and it’s overall function to show incoming gmail but the constant pop ups to buy, buy, buy get old fast. I even went ahead and bought yhe remove adds feature but that did not stop the continued pop ups to buy the other items which I have no interest in. If the continued pestering does not stop soon I will have to remove this from my system which would be a real shame since it is the best gmail checker I have tried. I just can’t deal with the annoyances.

doesn’t work

It was great, but something happened with the recent update where it won’t even load anymore.

I loved this app until about 6 months ago. Now all is does is does is kick me off when I’m trying to respond to an email. I can’t even get 4 or 5 words in and I notice I’m no lomger typing in the app. Too bad, I used this all the time for work. NO MORE though!!!!

I used to really like this app… but it is almost useless now because whenever I type something, it gets a few words out and loses focus from the typing window. It’s annoying… I have to type a few words, click the window again, type a few more. Used to be good, but I think I am going ot look for something else...

This app is very useful. It unobtrusively sits in your menu bar where you can click it to try to free up you memory. Of course it also shows you your current memory usage, and you can set it to automatically try to clear the memory if you get under a certain threshold of available RAM. That said, the app seems to be updated almost weekly—and it appears that it is mostly for the purpose of having the post-re-installation pop-up window that keeps asking you to buy their other products. It’s a a great, useful little app that is degraded by it’s ham-fisted repeated attempts to “upsell” customers to buy their other wares. Good programming, annoying marketing decisions.

Great app, seems to work and flow well, however, I use multiple Gmail accounts and would really enjoy the ease of being able to view all of my inboxes at the same time. Thanks!

Not Bad

The Mailtab was pretty great. If it removed that “1" from the app logo, it might be less confusing. Amazing, still. :)

I was wanting an audio notification when I received an email. Works great. I have a choice of sounds I wanted. Everything I was looking for plus more.
